You know I thought I had joy and happiness before I had a child. I remember thinking, my life is great, it can't get any better. Then Riley came along. Don't get me wrong, all of those aspects of my life that made me happy before, serving God, my husband, my family, still bring me such joy but Riley has brought a different kind of joy that I never knew existed. She just has such an innocence and excitement for the simple things in life.
Yesterday when I went to pick her up, Mom and Riley had gathered beautiful leaves and set this glorious table for our supper. Just simple things like leaves excited her so much and she wanted to show me what she'd done for us.
Even though we don't do the Halloween thing, I reaped the benefits of the after-Halloween sale on costumes. I bought this angel outfit for $2.50 for Riley to play dress-up. She had to put it on as soon as she got home and has flapped around like a butterfly ever since.
She brings such joy to my heart and I know our next little blessing will bring even more. If I could only learn from her to stop and appreciate all the simple things in life.
