Riley is very much a routine kind of kid. She gets it honest because I always function best if I have a set routine. From the day she was born I've had the child on a schedule or a set routine. Bedtime is no different and we never have to remind her of a step. She has her milk on the couch while we read from her Bible story book. Then it's time to brush her teeth and clean up her room. Last but not least SHE prays at the rocking chair in her room. We never really know what she says but we know God does and we know when she's finished because she gives a hearty AMEN! Tonight she actually prayed some words we could understand..."Bess (bless) Mommy, Daddy..........AMEN!" How sweet is that!
Sometimes she gets distracted from her prayers and just wants to give kisses back and forth to Daddy and me which we gladly accept. Once prayers are over she tells Daddy good night and I rock her. YES I STILL ROCK HER! I know people have different opinions on to rock a baby to sleep or let them cry it out. When she was a baby I tried both and I always wound up crying as much as she did when I let her "cry it out." Plus I ENJOYED and still do enjoy rocking her. Yes, she would fall asleep if I just laid her down but when I haven't seen her for 7 hours a day because of work, I want every second with her I can get.
Normally she's really quick about going right to sleep but tonight she turned into the Kissing Queen! She grabbed my neck and brought my head down to plant one on my lips. Then she'd grab me again and go for my nose, then my eyes, my hair, and with each one naming what she was kissing. I LOVED every minute of it! She is such a blessing and makes my "cup runneth over" with every cute little thing she does.
Yes, she finally did give up the kissing and fell peacefully to sleep! I'm hoping for more kisses in the morning!
